A Few Good Shows Avoid The Gallows – Castle, Dollhouse Among Them
A few of my favorite TV shows were ‘on the bubble’ — in danger of cancellation. Some of them, at least, have officially dodged the bullet. Newcomers “Dollhouse,” “Castle,” and “Better Off Ted” will all be back this fall, as will entertaining veteran “Scrubs”. This has been an unusually strong television season, in my opinion, with some interesting takes on sci-fi, crime drama and situation comedy. Best of all, the influence of “reality” programming seems to be waning — or at least not getting any stronger. More of the same, please.
And it looks like According To Jim is finally going away, hopefully making way for a show that does not suck. Til Death, however, was somehow renewed. Maybe it’s the new ‘According To Jim’ (which hung around for years despite lousy ratings and bland writing).
Entertainment Weekly is maintaining a convenient scorecard of fall renewals and cancellations.
