Buffy Movie In Development – Joss Whedon Not Involved
According to the Hollywood Reporter, a new Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie is in development. This sounds like a winner, in our age of nostalgia, re-makes and re-boots. The TV series still has a big following, and the original movie is an under-appreciated gem (Paul Reubens’ death scene – awesome!).
The plan seems to be to make a clean break from the old material, and start from scratch using the original movie’s premise: “Into each generation a Slayer is born. One girl in all the world, a Chosen One. One born with the strength and skill to fight the vampires, to stop the spread of their evil and the swell of their numbers.” In other words, Buffy: The Next Generation. I’d watch that.
By the way, Joss Whedon’s reaction when he heard another Buffy movie may be made — and may be made without him…”I hope it’s cool.”
