Campbell Soup recalls 15 million pounds of SpaghettiOs:

WASHINGTON (AP) – Campbell Soup Co. is recalling 15 million pounds of SpaghettiOs with meatballs after a cooker malfunctioned at one of the company’s plants in Texas and left the meat undercooked.
The Agriculture Department announced the recall late Thursday. Campbell spokesman Anthony Sanzio said the company is recalling certain lots of the product manufactured since December 2008 “out of an abundance of caution” because officials don’t know exactly when the cooker at the Paris, Texas, plant malfunctioned. Officials believe it happened recently but aren’t sure, he said.

iPod Touch Gets Free iOS4 Update

It’s old news, but I just noticed that the iOS 4 upgrade will be free for iPod Touch owners as well as iPhone users. In the past, Apple has charged $20 for iPod Touch OS upgrades, a shoddy practice they blamed on accounting requirements. Good for Apple for doing the right thing by their iPod Touch users.

AT&T announced that they’ve moved up the upgrade eligibility date for current iPhone customers by up to six months. If you would have become eligible for a subsidized upgrade any time in 2010, your date has been moved up so you can grab a new iPhone as soon as it is available.

Rita Bargerhuff, chief marketing officer at 7-Eleven, said it is one of the most unique campaigns in the chain’s history as it gives more than 30 product incentives to Zynga’s 239 million monthly active users.

“Through our promotion with 7-Eleven, we are expanding our reach and making our games more accessible to consumers,” said Vish Makhijani, senior vice president of business operations at Zynga.

The promotion runs through July 15 or while supplies and codes last.

AT&T Kills Unlimited Data Plans

The $29.95 iPhone (and other AT&T smartphone) unlimited data plan is being replaced by two cheaper plans with data limits.

The $15 plan will get you 200 megabytes of data, which AT&T claims is enough to “send/receive 1,000 emails (no attachments), plus send/receive 150 emails with attachments, plus view 400 Web pages, plus post 50 photos on social media sites, plus watch 20 minutes of streaming video”. That sounds optimistic to me, but this plan in particular will be a good option for parents who have kids clamoring for an iPhone. And for many users, free WiFi isn’t usually far away.

The new $25 plan will get you 2 gigabytes, which is far more data than most iPhone users currently use – but power users may find themselves bumping up against the limit.

AT&T says you can keep your current unlimited plan, or you can switch to one of the new cheaper plans without extending your contract.
