ExtremeTech Takes A Swim In Dead Pool
Back in 2001 I found out Ziff-Davis was starting a new tech website called ExtremeTech, at the extremetech.com URL. I was more than a little interested, as I happened to own the sister domain name, extremetech.org — I assumed they would want to lock down any other versions of their name. I contacted Ziff-Davis via email and offered to sell it, and after a short phone call from a corporate lawyer I was sent a check for enough to fund a modest Disney vacation for my family.
It looks like Ziff-Davis is now shutting down ExtremeTech, providing an interesting end to one of my few cocktail party stories. I wonder if I can get my domain name back?
