Windows 7 RC Download Availability Ends Today
If you want to get the official download of Windows 7 RC, today’s the last day. According to Microsoft, you’ll still be able to generate keys after today, which means as long as you have the ISO, or can get it (from a bit torrent, perhaps), you’ll still be able to legally install and test Windows 7 RC after today.
Keep in mind that the release candidate has a self-destruct timer built in – The RC will expire on June 1, 2010. Starting on March 1, 2010, your PC will begin shutting down every two hours. Windows will notify you two weeks before the shutdowns start. Of course, that still gives you seven or eight months to play with Microsoft’s latest OS offering. And it’s your only legal option if you aren’t a member of Microsoft’s MSDN or TechNet programs – which give early access to the ‘Release To Manufacturers (RTM)’ version of Windows 7.
